Scholarships

Open to current and prospective students. At Sholem Aleichem College, we believe every child deserves a rich and meaningful education based on Jewish values, culture and heritage. We are a secular Jewish school committed to being welcoming, inclusive and supporting every child to learn and grow. Our Scholarship Program helps families who might not otherwise be able to access an independent Jewish education. It is open to children already enrolled and those who want to start in Prep to Year 6.

Tsuzamen Scholarship (Needs-Based)

Tsuzamen (צוזאַמען) means together in Yiddish. This scholarship celebrates learning together, collaboration, including others and being active in College life. It aims to support families who wish to learn together with us.

  • A love of learning and trying their best
  • A willingness to be part of our Jewish school community
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency

Mentshlekhkayt Scholarship (Values-Based)

The word ‘mentshlekhkayt’ relates to the word ‘mentsh’, meaning a person of integrity or decency. Mentshlekhkayt, meaning humanity, refers to qualities such as kindness, empathy, moral responsibility, and acting with decency — being a "good person." The Mentshlekhkayt Scholarship is for children who show kindness, curiosity and a love of learning, and who help make our school a happy, caring place.

What we look for:
  • Respect and pride in their connection to Jewish culture, history and traditions
  • Being friendly and including others; treating everyone kindly and fairly
  • Enjoying learning languages and about culture and identity
  • Showing creativity, curiosity and a desire to learn new things
