Sholem Aleichem College is a secular Jewish Early Learning Centre and primary school located in Melbourne, Australia. We aim to foster a love of Jewish culture, history, festivals and traditions in an inclusive community setting. At the heart of the College is the study of Yiddish language and culture.
Our students are immersed in a rich diverse general curriculum of literacy, numeracy, the arts, health and physical education, along with their Jewish Studies, Hebrew, and Yiddish.
Our purpose is to cultivate in our students a strong Jewish and Australian identity, and a sense of belonging to the worldwide Jewish community.
The College is committed to ensuring child safety and has a zero tolerance for child abuse. We are committed to providing an environment that promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of children and protects them from abuse, harm, neglect, and the threat of harm.
The College undertakes several screening processes of applicants to ensure the appropriate protection of children in its care. This includes reference checks, qualification checks and professional registration checks.
- All teaching staff must have registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- All non-teaching staff must hold a current Working With Children Check.
- All people employed by the College must be eligible to work in Australia and you will be asked to complete a Right to Work form on application.

(Full Time) Permanent Role Commencing Term 2, 2026
Reporting to the Principal and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across finance, HR, compliance, enrolments, marketing, facilities, technology and risk. It is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role within a warm, values-led school community.

Director of Teaching and Learning
(Part Time) Commencing Term 2, 2026
Reporting to the Principal and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, this role leads the Primary School’s General Studies and Specialist (Arts, Music and Sport) teaching teams, with a strong focus on high-quality teaching practice, curriculum and program development aligned with the College’s values.
This is a rare opportunity to undertake a *part-time* (0.8 FTE) Director of Teaching and Learning role within a warm, values-led school community.
If you bring senior leadership experience in education, (ideally in a primary setting) and an excellent knowledge of the Australian curriculum, we would love to hear from you.
