A Smash Hit! Sholem Aleichem Students Discover Pickleball

Thursday, 07 Aug 2025

The air was filled with excitement and the gentle 'pop' of paddles hitting balls this week as our Year 5 and 6 students took part in an introductory Pickleball workshop. As part of our dynamic Physical Education programme, this unique opportunity provided students with a chance to learn and play one of the world's fastest-growing sports.

Under the expert guidance of Mr Hill and with support from our friends at Pickleball Victoria, the students enthusiastically embraced the new challenge. This workshop provided an exceptional learning opportunity, allowing students to develop their hand-eye coordination and improve their racquet skills in a fun, fast-paced environment. The sessions were a wonderful demonstration of teamwork and good sportsmanship as the children played alongside their peers, laughing and cheering each other on.

This initiative perfectly embodies the Sholem Aleichem College mission. By introducing a broad and innovative co-curricular programme, we are able to support and nourish the diverse abilities and talents of our community. Seeing the students engage so happily and confidently with a new sport reflects our belief that every child should have the opportunity to experience success and develop a love of exploration and learning. It is through these kinds of experiences that our students grow to be knowledgeable, creative, and fulfilled members of our community, all while having a great time.
